.. LISTEN ..

Today I taught gym for grades k-5. It was exhausting. Since I am so young I know most of these kids pretty well. I think they feel like they don't have to listen to me because they see me as an older sister, instead of a teacher. Which does not work to my advantage. I blow the wistle and they just keep talking and rambling on. Then each kid asks me what we are doing because no one can hear. It's ridiculous.

I can give out 'negative minus points' or detentions, but I don't want to. I want gym to be fun and I want everyone to like me. BUT I need to be respected and I shouldn't have to yell so much. Should I start using they punishments to get that respect I deserve?! I hate to harp on this point but it is important, I volunteer to teach gym here. They can not afford a gym teacher so I put up with all of this stuff out of the kindness of my heart! Which only makes it more difficult, because I don't even get paid to deal with this crap!

the family

my immediate family is my dad (tony), mom (marilyn), sister (alexandria) and brother (jack). my parents are each one of 6. my mom has 3 sisters and 2 brothers, while my dad has 5 sisters. There are 22 grandchildren and one great grand child on my moms side and 15 grandchildren and one great grand child on the way on my dads side. needless to say, but i am going to say it because it's needed, i come from a large family and i would not trade it for anything.

my moms mom (ruth) passed away on 01.06.06 and her dad (jim) passed away on 02.27.09. not a day goes by that i don't think about them, i still miss them more than ever. my dad's dad (harry) i see maybe 2 times a year .. as well as his wife (mary). and my dads mom (sondra) is amazing.

daddio

my dad is quite possibly one of the nicest/kindest/sweetest/toughest/badasses you know. he would do absolutely anything for anyone. my dad is in the air national guard, where he has served 25 years. while in iraq in 2006 he was hit on the top of the head by the wing of a F-16 fighter jet, that moved just a little too early. since then he has been diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury, he has trouble remembering a lot and it is very trying at times to deal with this situation. he does his best and so do we.

my momma

my mom is one of the strongest people i know. she's been through a lot in the past 4 years, losing both of her parents. the 8 years before that she watched and helped her mom battle cancer and win twice. she has dealt with my dad going overseas on nearly 20 deployments over the past 25 years and raising 3 kids on her own during those times. awards should be made for women like her. she sets the bar and she sets it high. (she's the one in the middle, i don't have a picture of her by herself).

jack

quite possibly the best kid ever. he is so sweet and very mature for a 13 year old, boy. he does great in school and he can chat your ear off with the best of them. he plays basketball and football and does awesome in both. he is hilarious, that kid could keep anyone occupied for hours on end. i think he gets it from his sister (alex and maybe a little from me). he is obsessed with sports, you could call him and he would talk stats for days. he is a great kid who is definitely going somewhere with his life. i can't wait for him to get there :) and i could not be more proud of him.
